Scripture Reading: Romans 8:18-25

Reflection
This world is not what it was meant to be. This is essential to the Christian story. While God made creation good and it still shows flickers of that goodness, our sin has left that goodness a tattered ruin. Creation groans, and we hear that groaning in the afflictions of this age.

Our hope in Jesus Christ is not simply for ourselves. It is not simply for our souls. It is for all of creation. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to work salvation for the whole universe. As we are saved, we are being joined to this hope. When Christ returns and the children of God are revealed, the world itself will be healed. Earth and heaven will be one. Disease and famine, sadness and death will be undone.

While in this age we wrestle with the brokenness of this world, we do so with hope. We know Who will win the victory. We know how this story will end.

A Prayer for Resurrection
Father,
Just as Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, so we hope in newness of life. We recognize, in this age, that His life is at work in us. We recognize, in the age to come, that life will triumph. Embolden our hearts in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Make us agents of life-giving hope as we live His resurrection today. We pray this all in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
AMEN
